Clanton Creek Natural Resource Area

4.8

Clanton Creek is located approximately 3 miles southeast of East Peru. There are four primitive hike-in campsites located along the trail system. Watch for the international tent camping logo and directional arrows on the trail marker posts to locate the campsites. Two sites are located in the eastern third of Clanton Creek in the Clanton Management Unit with access most easily gained by using the east parking area of the Clanton Unit. A 3rd and 4th site are located in the middle third with one of those located in the Sawyer Mgt. Unit and the other in the Turkey Ridge Mgt. Unit, with access most easily gained by using the south parking area of the Sawyer Unit. A small sign and a mowed area with  a ground fire-ring are the only visible markers designating the sites. Primitive camping at these sites is allowed 12 months of the year.
