Guided Tour of Covered Bridges
The bridges of Madison County aren’t just one of Iowa’s highlight attractions—they were also the inspiration behind the acclaimed novel and Hollywood film of the same name. Get to know the bridges—and follow in the footsteps of Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood—on this private tour.
Start by contacting the Madison County Chamber of Commerce to schedule your tour for the date and time of your choice. Then set off from the Madison County Chamber of Commerce & Welcome Center where you'll meet your expert tour guide. Each two-hour tour includes information on the construction and history of the bridges, the movie production, and a variety of local historical information. Your guide will join you in your personal vehicle as you navigate your way to several of the covered bridges, telling insightful stories along the way. (You must have a seat available for the tour guide with a seat belt!)
Fees are $10 per passenger (with a minimum fee of $50 required.) Tour guide gratuity is not included.
